Nursing and midwifery courses

We offer courses in all fields of nursing, including adult, child, mental health and learning disabilities. Our lecturers will support and guide you from theory and simulations in our NHS-standard facilities to hands-on placements.

Whether you're starting your career by studying a Nursing and Midwifery Council-accredited degree, or advancing with specialist or postgraduate study, we’re here to support you to become a competent nurse or midwife.

Why study nursing or midwifery at Hallam?

As a trainee nurse or midwife you will develop skills which will make you employable globally. Our nursing and midwifery courses are taught by supportive expert practitioners and you will learn in lecture theatres and hands-on clinical simulations in our state of the art facilities; including NHS standard replica wards, doctors surgery rooms, operating theatres and community spaces like you’d find when you qualify.

Our links to healthcare organisations provide you with placement opportunities across a broad spectrum of nursing and midwifery areas. When you graduate, nursing isn’t limited to hospitals—you can work in clinics, research, schools, public health, military, or even travel, so gaining broad experience as you train helps you in your next steps.

One of the UK’s largest health and social care schools

At the School of Health and Social Care, you can even benefit from cross discipline learning with other professionals on campus, giving you the chance to see how modern healthcare professionals work together and give you a unique perspective to improve practice.

Our nursing and midwifery degree courses are continuously developed in consultation with our partnerships in the sector - including NHS trusts, private healthcare companies, commissioning groups and the service users who actually receive the care. This makes sure you have the nursing education you need to make a real difference to people’s lives.

If you're interested in completing a research degree in this area, you can find out about the PhD and MPhil courses we offer in health and social care.
